Mark Curryer is a cityscape artist that creates bold, atmospheric impressionist style paintings. Inspired by distinctive architecture and the day to day trappings of urban life, he is drawn to rainy night time scenes, illuminated by the lights reflecting in a city as it quietly sleeps.
The stunning paintings are created by using a wide range of tools including rollers and scrapers to achieve the textures and effects which are characteristic of his work. By layering in newsprint to add a further layer of texture to each piece, the exposed newsprint shows through the paint in areas by design, in other parts occur naturally where the rollers and scrapers lay the paints unevenly which reflects the unexpected and unpredictable nature of life lived at speed in the city.
Mark studied three dimensional design at Eastbourne Art College and built successful career. Now working at his dedicated studio at his home in Eastbourne where he paints full-time. Exhibiting all over the UK with his work selling worldwide Mark Curryer is an established artist with a strong following, an ideal investment for art enthusiasts and collectors alike.
